What is Worldcoin?
Worldcoin is an identity project that checks you are a unique human by scanning your iris at an Orb, and WLD is claimed by verified people and used for protocol governance.
Tools for Humanity, co-founded in 2019 by Sam Altman, Alex Blania and Max Novendstern, built the protocol, and the token went live on July 24, 2023. Supply is capped at 10 billion WLD, and any issuance beyond that cap can begin no earlier than July 24, 2038, fifteen years after launch, at up to 1.5% a year if governance approves it. WLD is issued on Ethereum, while the tokens verified people claim move on World Chain, a layer-2 built on top of Ethereum.
